st. VINCENT DE PAUL
An International Catholic organization of men and women, who seek, in a spirit of justice and charity, and by person-to-person involvement of its members, to help those who are in need.
Increased requests for help during these difficult economic times, are taking a toll—not only on the finances of our organization—but with additional demands
on the time and talents of our members.
In Matthew 25, Jesus tells us “whatever you do for the least of my brothers, you do for Me”. As followers of Christ, we are called to continue His work among the poor and downtrodden. One of the primary ways the Church continues this work of service to the poor is through the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Please give prayerful consideration to this invitation to join the St. Mark Parish Conference of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. We need you!
Anyone considering membership is welcome to come to our meeting on the 4th Tuesday of the month (October 27 this month) just to see what it’s all about. Please call Walt Gemmer, 544-4942 if you find yourself called to this ministry.

FOOD PANTRY
Mary Deters and Marilyn Sax are in charge of St. Vincent De Paul ministry that distributes food to the needy. In the latter part of 2006, we merged with 6 other Christian churches to form the Affton Christian Food Pantry, located in the St. George Parish Facility. It is a vastly enlarged area to work in, twice a week hours of food distribution, plus the addition of frozen refrigerated items. There is no change in how parishioners donate to the pantry. Non-perishable food items, paper products, etc can be placed in the barrels at both entrances to the church at any time. Parishioners interested in assisting in this program, are invited to contact the Parish Office.

ST. AGATHA FOOD PANTRY
Printed envelopes are provided in the church vestibule for cash donations for the purchase of cases of canned goods for the St. Agatha Food Pantry. Approximately every 8 weeks, food is purchased and delivered to the Food Pantry. If you would like to help, please call Shirley Chambers at 544-3567.
